Rotary Club of Tiruvalla had a humble beginning in 1979, chartered with 20 elite members of the town with charter president Rtn. Dr. Ommen Cherian, Secretary Rtn.Thomas Thattakunnel and Treasurer Rtn.Thomas Cherian Kovoor. Presently the strength is 62 with 17 MPHFs and 24 PHFs. Rotary Foundation Contribution from our club members are excellent so far and are expecting more in the near future. Our club is one among the prestigious and outstanding clubs of District 3211. We keep up the tradition as in the past. During the past forty-three years we could carry out a lot of social services to the poor and needy in and around Tiruvalla town. One of the major projects dedicated to our home town was "Rotary Pay Ward" with nine rooms constructed and donated to the Government Hospital in 1983. Other notable major projects carried out during past years are -
- Constructed and donated a Bus Shelter by the side of Main Central Road of Kerala State near Tiruvalla.
- Provided Water Supply Facility to half a dozen colonies in and around Tiruvalla.
- “Tiny Heart - Save A Child" - Providing financial assistance for heart surgery to deserving small babies in association with St. Gregoriose Hospital, Parumala, Tiruvalla is an ongoing project started since 2007-’08 and is still continuing. Life of around 100 tiny hearts saved during the last five years’ period. An amount Rs. 15,00,000/- (Around 25,000US$) is spent for the project.
- Another signature project carried out is ”Sensory Room to a Special School for the Disabled" near Tiruvalla by the assistance of a noble Rotarian PDG of UK (International partner). This project was carried out under the District Project “Enable the Disabled" during 2010-’11. Project cost - Rs. 2,75,000/-
